Mowe becomes the 79th Branch of The Nigerian Society of Engineers AS Engr. Adesanoye emerge as its Maiden Chairman

The Nigerian Society of Engineers continues to grow in size and strength as another branch was added to its already widely circulated branch network in Nigeria. Mowe, a town in Ogun state that borders Ogun and Lagos state became the 79th branch of the Society. The new branch was formed by engineers who believe there should be one in the Mowe and Ibafo environs, and it was inaugurated by the national president himself in person of Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu FNSE who particularly came to launch the new branch.


In his opening address, he started by congratulating the new branch members for their hardwork. He emphasized that, engineers resident in some other communities have tried in the past to be inaugurated like this but failed. He said their application for a branch to be formed at Mowe enjoyed early success and he is not surprised they have gone this far in a very while.


He also encouraged and urged them to remain united and make positive impact in their immediate society and beyond, in order for them to be able to remain relevant.


Solving power issue in Nigeria was also part of the discussion at the inaugural ceremony of the new branch that has as its theme, alternative energy:  stimulus for social and technological development. In delivering his paper, the guest lecturer, Engr. Abiodun Ajasa MNSE who amongst other points established the different sources of renewable energy  Nigeria can explore,  its benefits and impact on the socio-economic development of Nigeria not leaving out the opportunities it portends for the vast growing population of the country and the roles of the government from all levels and that of the corporate entities in achieving sustainable renewable energy in the country.


If Nigeria wants to truly achieve constant power supply leveraging on available renewable energy sources, them government at all levels, engineering practitioners, private sector, investors and every practitioner in the renewable formal and informal sectors have roles to play and must ensure that this is done in the most professional way to align with global best practices and meet global standards, he further said.


The Portem Chairman, Engr. Kole Afolami MNSE led the honorable audience into the history of the branch with much appreciation going to members and everyone that gave their support throughout the birthing period. We want to assure everyone that our presence as professional body in this part of the state is to key into the vision of the state in exercising our civic right and adding values to the state and most importantly our local community through ethics and standard of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, he later said.


Other notable activities at the event was the announcement and installation of the first ever chairman of the new branch Engr. Martins Adesanoye MNSE and other executives that will see to the safe sailing of this new ship in the ocean of engineering capacities in their community and state as a whole.


In his inaugural speech, Engr. Martins Adesanoye MNSE expressed his unquantified joy and appreciation as he charged his team and assured the audience of their readiness to fire at all cylinders in ensuring they live up to expectation and even surpass it. He said he wishes to assure that, this Executives Committee Members under his leadership has the capacity and strength to mobilize the necessary human and material resources to create value for the greatest good of the branch in line with the mission of the great society – The Nigerian Society of Engineers.


The epoch making event ended with more celebrations as a new member was also inducted into the society, an elder was appreciated for his support for the new branch and goodwill messages was delivered by well-wishers from far and near.
